Sanchez 0 Posted July 4, 2001 I updated the game to latest version and I get this error: "An privlieged instruction was executed at address 005c7c14 Click ok to terminate the application" I get that without using the compatibility tool but using the compatibility tool I get "MSVCRT.DLL for Win32 ERROR: MSVCRT.DLL is not compatible with win32s." Any ideas? Share this post Link to post
jcurbo 0 Posted July 14, 2001 You'll need The Aftermath. It patches RA to be compatible with NT/2000. (that's the second expansion pack for RA, if you didn't already know.. Counterstrike, the Aftermath) Share this post Link to post
Sanchez 0 Posted July 15, 2001 Now im having trouble installing Red Alert again. I don't exactly remember how I installed it the first time. The compatibility tool dosen't work, the setup keeps on saying "You are running Windows 5.0. This is a win95 only product" Share this post Link to post
jcurbo 0 Posted July 15, 2001 I used the compatiblity tab that gets installed with SP2. Create a shortcut on your desktop to <your cd drive>:\setup.exe, e.g. e:\setup.exe Go to the Compatibility tab (it will be the last tab in the Shortcut dialog, after you've installed SP2) and put it into either Win95 or Win98 mode. Click OK, and run the shortcut. RA should install normally. Then upgrade to Counterstrike and/or Aftermath. Share this post Link to post
Blyre 0 Posted July 15, 2001 I was ready to give up on ever getting Red Alert to work under 2000 and this thing suddenly works. Thanks a bunch! Wallace "Blyre" Cass Share this post Link to post
jcurbo 0 Posted July 15, 2001 Yeah, me too. I remembered hearing somewhere that "an NT-compabtible (haha) executable is included with Aftermath" (that might have even been on the compat list here) so I installed RA using the shortcut method, and then installed Counterstrike and Aftermath. Works like a charm. Now if only they'd patch C&C 95.. it has the same problem as Red Alert Share this post Link to post
Blyre 0 Posted July 18, 2001 Hi again Jcurbo: I used that Compatibility shortcut and managed to get C&C95 installed without the version message. It installed just fine, but when I went to run it I got this message: "The procedure entry point SMapLS_IP_EBP_12 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll." Would you or anyone else know what this message means or a way to get around it? Thanks, Wallace "Blyre" Cass Share this post Link to post
jcurbo 0 Posted July 18, 2001 That is as far as I got. What that means is that there is a function call in Windows 95 that isn't there anymore in Windows 2000, and the program can't find it. I don't know any way to get around it. This is similar to the problem with Red Alert, and Westwood patched RA to fix it. Share this post Link to post
DosFreak 2 Posted July 18, 2001 Only way I got C&C to work in NT is by using Connetix Virtual PC. Share this post Link to post
Blyre 0 Posted July 18, 2001 Thanks, Jcurbo: Yeah, that's what the folks at Westwood said when I called and asked them about it. Hi DosFreak: Connectix Virtual PC, huh? Interesting. I'll have to look into that program. I was trying to run the evaluation version of VMWare, but that program seems to have issues. Thanks for the tip Wallace "Blyre" Cass Share this post Link to post
a10thunder 0 Posted July 29, 2001 Is there any way to change the resolution of the game? When I run RASETUP, I only get 640 x 400 or 640 x 480 options. I have a Diamond Viper II, so I should get higher resolution than that. Share this post Link to post
Blyre 0 Posted July 30, 2001 I don't believe that it is possible to get RA to go to higher than 640x480. The game is pretty old by today's standards and back when it was new, 640x480 was the best resolution available. Wallace "Blyre" Cass Share this post Link to post
