ftmiranda 0 Posted July 19, 2001 Hello, I have a generic modem 56K.... I installed WindowsNT and it did not detected it..... so I tried to intall it manually.... It asks for the drivers.... I insert the CD with the windwosNT drivers and then it asks for a port.... but in my port list I have no potion at all.... How can I install this modem in my system?? Any ideas?? Wolf87 0 Posted July 19, 2001 Windows installs com ports as a preliminary process to the modem being installed. To do so manually, go to Control Panel, Add remove Hardware, click next, choose Add/Troublesoot a device and after the initial search for new devices choose Add at the top of the list, next, No I want to choose from a list, Ports (com and Lpt) will install the com port. Repeat the process to install more com ports. Check the modem card for pin placement operating choice of com port. Share this post Link to post
ftmiranda 0 Posted July 19, 2001 When I try to detect it, it says it could not find any modem attached to the system...... The modem is a plug and play device, no jumpers....... I tried to insert a port, COM2 but it added it but in the manually modem configuration the port that I added was not there...... Wolf87 0 Posted July 21, 2001 Did you disable the serial ports in the BIOS? Try this first. If you mean the installation software did not recognize this port, try installing other com ports (com 1, 2, 3, 4). It may be hardware coded to com 3 or 4. If Generic Modem means a WinModem or HaM modem, the specific drivers are necessary for installation.
