Ant -|- One 0 Posted July 25, 2001 I don't know why, but my DVD drive is no more detected (take a look at my specs below) by bios at start-up... But the funny thing is that the DVD drive is real present and working great under Win2kPro... How on earth is this possible ? It completely bypasses my hardware knowledge... DosFreak 2 Posted July 25, 2001 NT doesn't have to use the bios to detect devices. You can emable your drive in the bios but your boot time will slowdown. Share this post Link to post
Igor 0 Posted July 25, 2001 If your bios is set so it doesn't detect the drives (besides the primary HD) all the CD/DVD drives will work anyway because they will be detected during the PNP (plug-n-pray) device discovery time. Share this post Link to post
Ant -|- One 0 Posted July 26, 2001 My bios is set to auto for all 4 ide channels, so what the hell is going on ? What could cause the bios not to detect the DVD ? If I want it to appear at start-up, I have to enter the bios, check all 4 ide channels, save and exit, and voila: I can see the DVD drive appear along with my HDDs ! Is it the mobo's bios fault (I doubt it, it's brand new, march 2001, with bios 1005 and 1006.003), the DVD drive itself (why ?) Thanx you all ! Share this post Link to post
