harlock 0 Posted July 29, 2001 i recently formatted and tried to reinstall win2k,but i kept getting this system root/nt/32.dll error at startup, would not load windows whatsoever, so i went through and tried numerous things and the only thing that worked was to put my cd-rom on the secondary ide channel and completly disconnect my dvd drive.now it all worked fine before the format and cant imagine what could be the problem.as it stands i have a dvd drive i can no longer use in windows.one interesting thing though is everything works in linux just fine no errors whatsoever, although that might be because linux seems to be more tolerent of hardware configs, well to me anyway. any ideas? thanx harlock Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted July 29, 2001 Unless it's a BSOD, it's most likely not hardware, although sometimes a perfectly good config gets out of whack once in a while. If you really aren't too far with installing stuff in Win2k, reformat that partition and start from scratch. If you've screwed around in BIOS, try setting it back to the defaults, if you haven't tried that already. Share this post Link to post
