Only running at AGP 2x but should be able to do AGP 4x!

Recommended Posts

Hi, my setup is as follows;

+ Abit VP6 with dual PIII 1Ghz 133

+ 1Gb SDRAM PC133

+ Master IDE Channel 1 IBM 15Gb ATA100 HD <- XP is installed on this!

+ Secondary IDE Channel 1 HP CDRW

+ Secondary IDE Channel 2 250Mb Zip Drive

+ Master Raid two Seagate HD ATA60 in Raid 0

+ ELSA Gladiac 920 64Mb DDR (Det 12.90 beta)

+ Iiyama Vision Master Pro 510

+ SB Live Platinum

+ Pinnacle DV500

+ 3Com 10/100 Network Card

When I look at the Adapter Information in PowerStrip it says that the 920 is running at AGP 2x and that it can only run a either AGP 1x or AGP 2x but I know that my mobo and the 920 can do AGP 4x.

How can I set it to AGP 4x?

Any Ideas?

Thanks

William

did you check your BIOS? usually it's set to a 2x default, you have to manually set it to 4x. that's how it is in my Abit mobo.

other than that, if you can't get it to work, i wouldn't worry about it too much, your not going to see a performance increase very much.

the extra bandwidth from setting it at 4x can't be utilized by most of today's video cards, due to memory limitations and processor limitations, of the card itself. at least that's what I've heard, i could be wrong.

drdoug99 is right some people just go nuts over the 4x. I don't mean you. Sometimes if you overclock some motherboards (mine) turn it back to 2x.
