douce 0 Posted August 3, 2001 Is there a way to completely Disable the swap file in win 2k? I have 768 megs of ram and trying to run it without a swap file. thansk Chris Doucet Share this post Link to post
ValkyerieK7 0 Posted August 3, 2001 Is this your first exposure to NT / 2000? If so there is something different about the memroy management in 9x vs the management in 2k. In 2k, you actually have to increase your page file because of how each application you run needs its own memory address space. Share this post Link to post
Dirty Harry 0 Posted August 3, 2001 Wouldn't it be possible to set the size to 0? Just test it! I don't think this should ever be done though as W2K always needs a swap file, at least in case of a system crash. BTW, Putting the swap file on a different drive (not just partition) may speed things up. H. Share this post Link to post
ValkyerieK7 0 Posted August 3, 2001 Yeah it would or what you can do is span it across two drives ..now i'm gonna test that out myself pretty soon make sure it's not on a partition because it makes the drive do more than what it has to Share this post Link to post
douce 0 Posted August 3, 2001 No not first time. Just never bother with the swap file and seeing how I have huge amounts of ram thought it might speed thingsup without using a swap file. thanks douce Share this post Link to post
