ZoSo 0 Posted August 4, 2001 Upon doing a clean install of Win2K Pro, it takes the NIC forever to "load" (approx. 1 minute). I get this message in the Event Viewer everytime I boot: Dhcp Warning Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network Card with network address 00207800F6F8. The IP address being used is 169.254.81.229. Strange thing is, last time I did a fresh install I never had this problem. None of the hardware has been changed or moved. It's a LinkSys LNE100TX NIC, latest drivers used with both installations. Thanks, Share this post Link to post
FadedTimes 0 Posted August 5, 2001 is it auto detecting it's speed? Or is it set to 10M or 100M p/s? My old 3com use to do that when I had it set to auto detect speed. Even worse when I had an auto sensing hub, would take like 5min sometimes to work. Share this post Link to post
ZoSo 0 Posted August 5, 2001 Yep, it's on auto sensing, but it was like that before and never did it. Share this post Link to post
peterro 0 Posted August 6, 2001 Use an static IP instead! U should get rid of the error message, and speed up the startup! Share this post Link to post
