sapiens74 0 Posted August 20, 2001 Just wanted to know how many of you are acutally interested in this one. I fugured they would roll out a new card when XP comes out. Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted August 21, 2001 Well, if creative will support it instead of putting out half assed drivers, I think it might fly. But creative has pissed off quite a few customers with the poor Win2k support. Share this post Link to post
ri-rilot 0 Posted August 21, 2001 Nope. Shant be touching it with a barge pole. Creative have really annoyed me with their lack of tech support for Win2k and shoddy drivers. Have just bought a Turtle Beach SantaCruz it's like a breath of fresh air after my SBDead! Share this post Link to post
FatFish 0 Posted August 21, 2001 Do you think CreativeLab will end up like 3dfx and Voyetra Turtle Beach will end up like Nvidia? Share this post Link to post
ThC 129 0 Posted August 21, 2001 nope it will not happen. Creative has too broad of a market to ever end up being like 3dFX. Now with one unified OS then creative will make sure their newer cards have the XP support that the live! cards didnt have for 2k. Share this post Link to post
sapiens74 0 Posted August 21, 2001 I believe in one of my rants I posted that they would roll out a new card when XP came out to force you to upgrade. Figured it would be around Christmas tho. But nonetheless, they will sell a ton of them cause of marketing alone, taking a page from Intel. Consumers like things in flashy boxes. Share this post Link to post
ThC 129 0 Posted August 22, 2001 Also creative has A LOT of vendors it cators too. The 2 biggest are gateway and dell. Share this post Link to post
Dragon-Lord 0 Posted August 22, 2001 I am still boycotting Creative Labs over the W2K driver issue. I just don't trust them anymore. :} Share this post Link to post
SHS 0 Posted August 22, 2001 Sorry guys but it really dosen't have any to do with SBLive drivers, it has more to do with newer motherboard namelee VIA some newer Intel chip and few unlucky user. Think about it in last yrs half only thoses motherboard have had the problem. How ever CL will be come with new drivers format know as UDA I have test the Liveware Beta UDA drivers very good I think. Just give you idea on what comeing next & not just for new Audugy card http://audigy.boom.mu/drivers/drivers.html Remember that EMU10K1 processor came out in 1998, three years before thoses chip set came out and before Win2000. JP- 0 Posted August 22, 2001 Well im getting one, i have a strange feeling that as soon as its officially out they are gonna dump the live! and give even less support than they are already giving. Share this post Link to post
sapiens74 0 Posted August 23, 2001 I have a Hercules Game THeatre and my friend has A santa Cruz card and we were both stunned at how much better quality these cards are. I know they are newer then the live but everything sounds so much better. I think Creative has the same problem ATI has. IT develops really good hardware then stops. No attempt at improving drivers since it can push its products trhough OEM's like there's no Tommorrow. If they would spend half as much time adverstising and more time developing drivers then they wouldn't have this problem. Nvidia is where its at today because of good drivers. They add performance to each set that comes out. I will only buy this card if and when my current Hercules no longer does what I need and Creative gets there act together and redeems themselves for past mistakes. Thats a pretty big IF........ sapiens74 0 Posted August 23, 2001 I would assume anyday now. They have a full blown part of the site for all the versions of it, and knowing Creative from working retail, they'll have it out the door pretty soon, by the end of the month. Share this post Link to post
JP- 0 Posted August 23, 2001 Yeah cool, i saw a pic of a boxed version of the Audigy Platinum i think i might get that. Does it finally do 5.1 decoding in hardware btw? Share this post Link to post
