CheeseKilla 0 Posted August 23, 2001 I just reinstalled Win2k today and so far (with many restarts) the file ntvdm.exe is constantly running (as shown on the processes menu in taskmanager) and is using 50% of my cpu's at all times. Does anyone know why the Virtual DOS Machine might be running at all times and how I might stop it? Thanks in advance. Share this post Link to post
Nemesis 1 Posted August 23, 2001 CheeseKilla, NTVDM is run when a 16-bit application is run and will hang around until you run another one, to stop it from "hanging" around, edit this registry setting: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\WOW Change the "DefaultSeparateVDM" to "yes" (without the quotes!)
