The IDE RAID controller is regarded right now like a popular choice between the users ready to spend a little bit more in order to increase performance. The storage system performance is a major drawback in a computer overall performance and there are no many things to do. It´s very interesting that SCSI standard is more than 10 years old and was regarded like a solution to IDE problems but it didn´t succeed to gain the market in the same degree as DDR has done in a few months. It´s a big difference between memory and storage standards but it was just an example. One of the major SCSI disadvantages is its high cost. As you may know a quality SCSI harddisk costs more than twice than an IDE harddisk of the same capacity. In most cases you have to pay for speed rather than for features.
