shaocaholica 0 Posted August 26, 2001 Im still getting used to the Win2k environment but I never ventured into the serving aspects of the OS yet. When I used Win98 I used to run ServU as a FTP host. Now that Im in a pure Win2K environment I need a new way to run an FTP service. So here are my questions: 1)How do I run a Win2K FTP? What services do I need to start? How do I manage the FTP (users, connections, passwords, directories, etc.). 2)Are there any other FTP programs for Win2K that are more flexible than the OS FTP? Share this post Link to post
FadedTimes 0 Posted August 26, 2001 you are better off using an ftp client rather than the one that comes with win2k. Share this post Link to post
felix 0 Posted August 26, 2001 If you're talking about an FTP server/daemon, IIS v5.0 does a pretty decent job. It uses your Win2k account structure and allows setting up of virtual directories, real directories etc. Pretty easy to use. Just install FTP server from the Win2k cd and go into Computer Management and set it up. If you want an FTP client, use FTP explorer (FTPx Corp). It's free and works really well under Win2k.
