Two questions: 1. Whats the best OS for this laptop? 2. If I instal Win 2K will I have problems logging on to the university network which uses Win 98SE? Thanks Share this post Link to post
FadedTimes 0 Posted August 26, 2001 At my work all our sales persons use to have 98 on their notebooks, we've pgraded them to 2000 and have had great results. They hook them to all sorts of networks while out in the field, so I would hope you would'nt have any problem. Share this post Link to post
dasshutzenfest 0 Posted August 29, 2001 WIN2K Pro- 1) because it has native ACPI support (NT4 doesn't) 2) because it has native PCMCIA support (NT4 doesn't) 3) because 95/98/ME blows. Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted August 30, 2001 As far as networking is concerned I've had some problems with 98/2k networking well together, but it depends on what protocols you'll be using. 98 does not blow, ME does. ME promised improved stability and speed and failed on both of these. Share this post Link to post
Atreyu 0 Posted August 30, 2001 Windows 2000. On a machine like that, please don't put something like Windows 98 on it. That would be like putting lead tires on a mustang. **shivers** Share this post Link to post
ryoko 0 Posted August 30, 2001 2000 is also better with docking stations. Share this post Link to post

graz 0 Posted September 10, 2001 Win2k, definitely...I think it's the best MS-OS around for now, though I still don't know XP well... Share this post Link to post
