tourvil 0 Posted September 7, 2001 Final Fantasy VII works almost perfectly in WinXP, but it's still got some nagging problems. I did a maximum install (with the direct show stuff to run movies) and applied the TNT patch to get D3D working. The game runs movies fine, graphics are ok, but there are very long pauses between the different parts of the game (such as going into and leaving a battle). But everything else works. So I tried running in Win95 compatability layer. Now, I don't get the pauses. But now my gamepad doesn't work. Everything else still works. Also tried Win98 layer, same problem. Finally, I tried using QFixApp (from the XP Application Compatability Toolkit). Fiddling with some of the settings, I can get the gamepad to work and no pauses, but no matter what settings I use, if I use QFixApp, I don't get movies. Again, everything else works. So my options are: 1. Play with long pauses 2. Play with no gamepad 3. Play with no movies Well, option 3 is out of the question, and I really don't want to compromise on 1 and 2. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Jon Share this post Link to post
tourvil 0 Posted September 7, 2001 OK, on a hunch, I tried turning off the TNT fix and running it in software, and now everything works correctly. Well, except of course that it's really ugly. Any one know how to get it working with D3D? Jon Share this post Link to post
tourvil 0 Posted September 7, 2001 Nevermind, installing the latest Win2000 drivers for my Radeon solved the problem. Share this post Link to post
Xiven 0 Posted September 7, 2001 Yup, glad you figured it out I should point out though that as soon as you go into a chocobo race, the game will exit. As far as I know there is no way to fix this. Share this post Link to post
