Drivers

Recommended Posts

Unless I'm wrong, XP drivers haven't been offically released yet. Once XP hits shelves, I'm sure you'll probably see more XP driver's now. Until then, you'll have to wait and use 2k drivers or XP beta drivers, where offered.

Which ones? The 14.xx are supposed to work quite well, specifically the 14.70's. Hopefully nvidia will get those 20.80 drivers out, as they seem to give a nice bump in performance for XP users.

Your best bet is to hang around the forums and look for people who have your hardware under XP.

I would say look at M3Dzone, but the last time I was their the all the nvidia drivers were gone, and that was a lot of leaked ones too. You could try some of the manufacturers drivers, but they might mess things up, so be careful.

The Guru of 3D is supposed to have some det drivers too, so I'd check there in your quest.

I'm not sure of any sites that have a specific selection of exclusive XP drivers, but I'd imagine that the driver sites will have XP drivers on hand once XP is released offically.

M3DZone has more than just vid drivers, but that may or may not help you.

Good luck.

BrianFrank...Windows 2000 has been released for ages now and it still has driver problems. The problem lies with both Microsoft AND the other manufacturers. On one hand M$ does not release the API, on the other hand the manufacturers are doing a LOUSY job at writing new drivers or modifying old ones.

Manufacturers have all the time in the world to design the compatible drivers, since they can work closer with M$ even in the beta stages of an OS. They have NO EXCUSE in my opinion not to have 2000 (or XP) drivers available on the day the new OS hits the shelves. Even a week or two later would be okay, but more than that should raise some question marks...see HP wink

Indeed, if you look at the readme file, it specifically says that the drivers are for Win2k AND WinXP use.

Glad to see some hardware manufacturers are on the XP ball!
