Darmok 0 Posted September 8, 2001 Hey all, I have Nero 5.5.4.0 installed and I cannot seem to get a reliable burn out of it in XP(RTM). I have a Plextor 12/10/32A on IDE and a UltraPlex40 on my Adaptec 29160. Even with burn proof, I get toasted cd's as it uses it from 3% in, and I just get coasters. I have searched the forums already for a solution and the best one seemed to be installing new ASPI drivers. I downloaded ASPI32.exe v.1021 from Adaptec, but it refuses to install onto the system claiming there is no Adaptec ASPI layer present to upgrade. I am at a loss on how to fix this problem if I cannot install a new ASPI layer. Can someone help me out please? Thanks! -Darmok Specs: CUSL2 w/ P3-1Ghz 256mb ram Adaptec 29160 - 18G Cheetah X15, UltraPlex 40Xmax IBM 60Gb 75GXP, Plextor 12/10/32A ATi Radeon 32mb SB Live Platinum 5.1 Intel Pro 100+ NIC WinXP Pro Final Share this post Link to post
Arkos Reed 0 Posted September 8, 2001 get the ASPI driver there and follow the instructions in the included readme http://xp.xyu.ca/winxp/aspi.zip Share this post Link to post
Darmok 0 Posted September 9, 2001 Arkos, Thanks for the link. I installed the files and upgraded, and the check gives me the ok. Sadly though, Nero is still buffer underruning. I cannot figure out why, do you have any other ideas? -Darmok Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted September 9, 2001 Is this with just copying discs, or any burn? Are you trying to burn on the fly? And if so, do you have the source drive and burner on the same IDE channel? Share this post Link to post

Darmok 0 Posted September 9, 2001 The whole point is that I am trying to do a cd to cd copy. Here is the kicker, I just stuck in my old Adaptec 2930U and it works like a charm with the scsi rom reading and my ide writing. Not one problem, so what's up with my 29160? Is there some setting somewhere I should be setting to make this work properly? Share this post Link to post
