After boot up, DSL is slow to conect . Why?

Recommended Posts

Everithing works great. I got DSL. If i want to connect to internet no prob.

but imediately after boot up, i must wait about 30sec or so before trying to conect to internet. It doesn't crash or anything, just doesn't connect until 30sec or so have pased, then no probs.

even if i disconect, conecting again is no prob. I can connect/discon all day fithout any delay or prob. That is until until i reboot. then same deal. If anyone know why please pass on the info, if not then its no big deal.

thanx anyway.

I have the same thing.. very weird. I can only assume that its some driver incompatibilty and that my modems manufacturer will release offical XP complient ones after the offical release date of XP itself.

How are you connecting? I unfortunatly am using a USB modem - something I'm changing thankfully.

i had a similar problem, but i fixed it. ok, i have two network cards, one for local network, the other is for adsl. what i had to do was set them to have static IP addresses rather than choosing "Obtain IP automatically." see if that works for you guys.

Well I tried setting the IPs and still the same. Its really quite annoying... luckily I don't reboot often!.

It is indeed a service that isn't started automatically that slows it all down. I just had a look and there are two that it might be, Network Connections and Network Location Awareness. As these and a few others were started after an initial boot-up, I switched them all the automatic... and hey, problem solved. laugh

It may just be that I have a cold atm and not feeling to well, but that really sounds like a dig at me, and that I wouldn't normally help someone out if I could!

Well I would. :-P
