preacher_2k 0 Posted September 15, 2001 after i upgraded from windows 98 to windows 2000 i have big performance problems when viewing movies. on w98 i could view an mpeg fullscreen without any problems and now it only works in 100% zoom without too many interruptions. well, my system is not the fastest (amd k6 at 333mhz, 160mb ram, matrox millenium ii pci and 2 fast scsi harddisks) but it worked before in a better way. i'm quite satisfied with the speed of 2k over all, but does anybody know what i can do to increase the video performance ? Brian Frank 0 Posted September 15, 2001 Make sure you have the latest drivers for all your hardware, and pick up some more ram---Win2k may work a bit better if you up your ram a little. Share this post Link to post
DosFreak 2 Posted September 16, 2001 I was about to state the obvious: To improve video performance...buy a new video card! But I'm sure you don't want to hear that suggestion. The Murcers over at www.matroxusers.com might be able to help you get some extra speed out of that ancient thing. Share this post Link to post
prentek 0 Posted October 11, 2002 I see your problem! I have upgraded my win98 system to Win2000 and now my matrox dvd player skips all the time during play-back. I have done just about everything, upgraded drivers, upgraded the dvd software from matrox, I even upgraded my PC (not for dvd playback reasons, was creating two machines). My new machine has 512meg of DDR333 ram and is a P4 2.4, all hardware is fairly top of the line. However I was so impressed by the Matrox G400 under win98 with my old P3 600, 128Meg ram that I used the card in my new machine. It still skips whilst playing back dvd's. Let me know what you find out if you solve the problem. I am not keen to upgrade my video card for the sake of playing dvd's when I can just go out and purchase a proper dvd player (non PC type). Mr.Guvernment 0 Posted October 12, 2002 perhaps the win2k drivers just aren't up to snuff? Share this post Link to post
