timmy73 0 Posted September 18, 2001 I am running WindowsXP but some of my application doesn't work for XP. These apps were running okay in Windows 2000. The two apps I have which doesn't work are VirtuoCD and NeoGeo emulator. I try going into the properties of the *.exe file and choosing what it should be compatible with but it still doesn't work. I chose every operating system for compatibility but nothing. Is there something I could be doing differently. Please shed some light on this function of XP if you could. Thanks. DosFreak 2 Posted September 21, 2001 I don't have those programs but I'll download 'em as soon as I can and check them out. If they worked in 2000 I see no reason why they wouldn't work in XP. This is the #1 rule with Application Compatibility: When running an APP in 2K/XP DO NOT USE APPLICATION COMPATIBILITY UNTIL YOU HAVE PATCHED THE PROGRAM FIRST AND READ ALL THE DOCUMENTATION. DosFreak 2 Posted September 21, 2001 Wait a sec. I didn't see VirtuoCD. Isn't that a CD emulator? If so it's possibility that it wouldn't work in XP do to the changes in XP (mainly the built in UDF packet writer). That REALLY gets in the way of older programs. I do not have that program but you might want to try disabling the IMAPI service and then trying that program. Couldn't hurt. If it doesn't work then just re-enable it! Share this post Link to post
OLEerror 0 Posted September 23, 2001 A large number of emulators do not work in Windows XP. These include things like BLEEM. It most likely has to do with changes in the HAL. I haven't heard of many instances where compatibility mode has helped. Share this post Link to post
