IDE drive listed as SCSI drive, can't access

Recommended Posts

System info:

Abit SA6R

Intel PIII 933

Crucial 256Mb

Adaptec 2940UW

(3) 4.5G Seagate Cheetahs

(1) WD 15.0G IDE on HPt 370

Plextor 14/32 SCSI CDROM

Plextor 12/10/32A CDRW

Asus V7700 Deluxe

SB Live!

I'm running a dual boot system, FAT32 all drives, with Windows98SE on Cheetah #1, Windows XP Pro on Cheetah #2, other 2 drives being empty.

The 15G WD is recognized and usable in 98SE, but is listed in the Device Manager in XP as a WDC 15G SCSI drive (I'm assuming because it is connected to the HPT 370 RAID controller) however the drive is not accessible.

It is the only IDE disk drive in my system. HPT drivers were automatically installed successfully during the XP install, no hardware conflicts listed in the device manager, as well as all devices enabled.

I have not removed the IDE drive from the ATA100 channel and tried the other IDE channels, it has worked perfectly in this config running 98SE since I installed it.

Thanks in advance for any tips,

Johnrock

I can't answer your question but I was wondering where in Beaverton you are, since I am in Aloha.
