I get this error message when I install winxp 2600, it comes after the first reboot.

 

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll

Please re-install a copy of the file above.

 

Does this have anything too do with my motherboard?

My spec is following

 

I have tried bios 3R and now 3R03 the same fault.

your system spec is fine, however someone has problem installing with RAID setup on this forum.

But if the error comes after the first reboot, you probably has a bad copy of winxp.

I have tried earlier beta's with XP and the same thing then.

And i have disabled RAID controller in the bios, so that

shouldn't have anything to say, should it?
