Wolf87 0 Posted September 30, 2001 Rockwell's HCF chipset is a software-based chipset (the HC is short for "host controller") that is used in popular PCI card modems. The modem need drivers that you may find on this site and do not forget the required Wave-modem driver: http://www.aopenusa.com/tech/download/ Also check on this very useful site: http://www2.driverguide.com Verify the FAQs: http://club.aopen.com.tw/faq/default.asp Check for any Firmware update that upgrades the modem capabilities. There are some other preliminary steps: create communication ports. Share this post Link to post
Dirty Harry 0 Posted October 1, 2001 It's long ago, and I don't remember the details but I had a US robotics PCI modem I just couldn't get to work in W2K (just wanted a fax). I ended up buing a cheapo usb modem to serve as a fax machine. The issue was that W2K is quite uncooperative when it comes to adding virtual COM ports i.e. COM3. You should find some info by using Google looking for combinations of Windows 2000, viritual com port, internal modem, Com 3 and similar. Hope this was at least of some help. H.
