korin 0 Posted September 30, 2001 I'm trying to run Trilobyte's The 11th Hour under Win2k. The compatibility list shows that trilobyte made a 32bit .exe that would allow the game to be played in 2000, but it seems that their website is down (or gone for good). Does anyone know where I can get this executable, or is there another way to get the game to work? I'm using VDM sound to bridge the soundcard, but whenever I try to run the game, it appears to load without errors, but then the screen blanks, and I'm returned to a DOS prompt. buckwheat 0 Posted September 30, 2001 I thought I was the only one looking for the Win32 beta patch for The 11th Hour! The funny thing is I started looking last week and I ended up in www.tbyte.com. The website was online. I clicked on support and downloaded the DOS beta update when the site went down. I didn't even get a chance to click on the Windows version ;((( The '11hwin.zip' is one of the hardest files to find on the web for me to date! I guess not many people care to put patches on their websites for old games ;( Ack! Whoever can find this thing gets a cookie Share this post Link to post
Spuds 0 Posted October 1, 2001 I don't have it posted on a web site, but I do have the file you are looking for archived somewhere. It basically allows the 11th hour to use DirectX. It is a beta they were working on when Trilobyte closed down. It is not perfect. I have had problems with video glitches and the game crashing (especially when working on certain puzzles.) But it does allow the game to run. If you are unsuccessful in tracking it down, give me your email address and I'll send it to you. Share this post Link to post

Don_Beech 0 Posted October 7, 2001 Hi, I'm a big fan of the 11th Hour and want to play it again!! Now I've installed the new windows it's not working. . Could you possibly send me the file for 32bit access in 11th Hour Spuds? I've left you a PM by the way, so i hope you've still got it!!! Anyone know what's happened to the tbyte website? Is it just temporarily down, or has it vanished along with the company?? Thanks, I'll look forward to hearing from you i hope spuds!! Share this post Link to post
Spuds 0 Posted October 8, 2001 Yes, Don, got your e-mail address - I'll send it over to you tonight. Belgarioz, I had the same problem, as I stated in my original post (crashing when working on the puzzles). It appears to be a function of the video card drivers you are using - which makes sense when you consider this is a beta program. Try using different driver versions for your card until you find one that may work a little better. Even older drivers may give you better results. Just a suggestion. Share this post Link to post
Don_Beech 0 Posted October 8, 2001 Thanks Spuds, I'll look forward to getting it up and running again when i recieve it, I really appreciate your help! Share this post Link to post
korin 0 Posted October 10, 2001 Has anyone else had this error when trying to run the beta? Any suggestions on how to get around it? It seemed to run fine the first time I executed it, but when I tried to change to full screen from quarter screen, it started giving the error that Directdraw failed to initilaize. I finally reinstalled from CD and re-extracted the files from 11hwin.zip, hoping that starting fresh would help, but to no avail. Any ideas? Share this post Link to post
Don_Beech 0 Posted October 11, 2001 If that message came up on my computer, it would mean that I haven't turned Video hardware acceleration on, but i guess that isn't applicable to every computer . You need to go to the system section of control panel to change that in some windows versions, or in xp i know you have to go to the advanced section of your display settings. Sorry I can't help anymore, I'm sure someone has a better explanation. I guess it could also mean you don't have the compatible driver for directdraw, but now i'm just rambling I've noticed the HTTP://WWW.TBYTE.COM website is alive again now, saying that they are moving, "please stay tuned" !!
