JanusX51 0 Posted October 6, 2001 Hello! I have a really bad problem with my win2k machine. I could be doing anything like playing a game, surfing the net, using photoshop or 3dsmax, when all of a sudden my computer freezes and the only thing for it is a reboot. Now, I know my way around computers, but this problem has be both baffled, and annoyed, Especially when I am working on a 3d scene which has taken me 5 hours, only to have the comp freeze, reboot, and find the files corupt. I checked event viewer everytime, and it seems the culprit is the following. Event Type: Information Event Source: Sentinel Event Category: None Event ID: 1 Date: 5/10/2001 Time: 9:31:19 PM User: N/A Computer: JANUS Description: The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( Sentinel ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: . Data: 0000: 00 00 20 00 01 00 76 00 .. ...v. 0008: 00 00 00 00 01 00 07 40 .......@ 0010: db 0a 00 00 00 00 00 00 Û....... 0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ 0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ 0028: 4e 54 53 49 4c 49 3a 44 NTSILI:D 0030: 72 69 76 65 72 45 6e 74 riverEnt 0038: 72 79 3a 6e 75 6d 4f 66 ry:numOf 0040: 44 65 76 69 63 65 73 00 Devices. I am only running default out of the box win2k, but am currently downloading SP2, but this might not change anything at all. Any help is greatly appreciated Till next time, seeya. JanusX51 0 Posted October 6, 2001 Hey thanks kgeissler. I hax0red around in my registry with the help of the info on one of those pages. All i can do now is cross my fingers and hope that: A) I haven't borked up my registry and 2) It works. hehe Thanks again. [edit] Pfffft, no dice. I obviously wasn't crossing my fingers hard enough. Still searching for alternate methods to solve my dilema.[/edit] Share this post Link to post
