10BT to 100BT hub problems...

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

Here's my dilemma. I have a main hub (10/100 dual line speed, autosensing, 24 port hub) that has three 8 port 10Base T hubs uplinking to it. The new main hub (10\100) was put in 8 months ago and was running smoothly up until this past weekend. For some reason now no traffic gets through to the 10BT hubs. I've tried every type of configuration for the individual systems (hard coding media types and duplexes) and routers without success. I then replaced one of the 10BT hubs with a 10\100 and it works. I don't like this solution as I will have to go out and buy additional- 10\100 hubs along with rehooking all the wiring.

Is there any reason why a 10BT hub would stop talking to a 10\100 hub after 8 months?

And just in case you think that my 10BT hubs were burnt out or damaged by power outages, they weren't as I fluke tested them and used one of them on another network still running 10Mb.

Why in the world would it stop talking after 8 months? Usually if there's an autosensing issue it would be detected after the first shutdown and restart or in the first week of use.

Well if anyone can answer I would appreciate.

Thanx in advance
