Andy_7676 0 Posted October 10, 2001 I'm confused, I see all these posts saying it will work or it wont work... Has anyone actually gotten Glide, D3D and OpenGL to work with their Voodoo5 5500 under the final build of XP (2600)? If so, where can I get information of getting it to work? Please only persons who own a Voodoo5 and are using the latest XP build post, since there seems to be way to much misinformation floating around here. Share this post Link to post
SHS 0 Posted October 10, 2001 Andy_7676 I own Voodoo5 5500 belive me win I say there no way to get Glide nor OpenGL to work under WinXP but you can get better DirectX support then the build in drv that come with WinXP all you need is 3dfx Voodoo4/5 Win2K 1.04 drivers kit, I'am not done with the DirectX only drv for WinXP hope I have them done before I go out town this week but I would count it being I have all ready dump WinXP and ton of other stuff to make room for captuering 2 or 3week of Babylon 5 wail I'am out of town. If want the WinXP DirectX only drv rigth now e-mail me. Share this post Link to post
Andy_7676 0 Posted October 11, 2001 ok.then why are there like 2 or 3 drivers sets from this site and voodoofiles.com claiming to have XP drivers that support Glide, and OpenGL? this pisses me off...I dont want to have to buy another Nvidia card just to play Glide and GL games! Minotaur 0 Posted October 11, 2001 SHS yes you are right, i have tried different (suposedly working xp drivers) drivers for my v3 and xpPRO 2600, all they did is whack my system, and had to use system restore! DAMM GOOD THING THEY INCORPORATED THAT FEATURE! to get my system back to normal, i have found that the only half decent drivers for my v3 are: OFFICIAL LAST RELEASE OF WIN2K DRIVERS DATED NOV2000 that set works, for the most part, i have no 3dfx tools i can get D3D games to work, NO glide works NO opengl games work but all my kids 2d games and some (havn't gone through my game collection yet) D3D games are ok, UT in glide is software only, and windowed, however when i select D3D UT plays really well in winXPpro nice and smooth, one other is PROJECT IGI that game runs ok, but there is some bad texture placements, RED FACTION works ok too, but there is also some bad graphics, MECHwarrior4 works ok, IN GAME, but the MENUE screens are all FUBAR'D i am afraid that winXP and 3dfx cards are going to be a nono now! win2k and my v3 are wicked with the last official release of the 3dfx drivers for DX8, and am using thoes for my XP box now with the v3 2d is flawless as usual, but when i tried glide option and opengl option, i get some memory errors or some fial to load..... errors.... SSAM doesn't work, flat out at all... bottom line, 3dfx drivers rock in win98se and win2k but are very poor in winXP Share this post Link to post

TheMadScot 0 Posted October 16, 2001 An alternative method (that worked for me, at least) is to install the 1.04.00 Win2K drivers from http;//www.3dfx.com Upon installing the drivers, you will get four error messages about an inability to register some components. Simply reboot XP and re-install the driver package again. You won't get any error messages this time around and - to date - the Win2K drivers seem to work just fine. Hope this helps ya.. brainsoft 0 Posted October 16, 2001 I went through this search last week and came up empty handed. When I looked, there were no 100% working WinXP drivers, though they are expected soon from x3dfx-c. I did find better drivers for Win2k though! I'll post the link tonight if you're interested though, it was nearly impossible for me to find the site a second time. Share this post Link to post
