TYiO 0 Posted October 14, 2001 Hi , I have a WD 20 Gb 7200RPM ATA100 and I can't set it to UDMA 5 . XP(build 2505) set it to dma 2 which is much slower... Why is that and how can I fix that? Thanks BYE Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted October 15, 2001 In BIOS, make sure it's set to UDMA 4 or 5, whichever is the highest you can set it. Share this post Link to post
EddiE314 0 Posted October 15, 2001 a stupid question, but you ARE using an 80pin ide ribbon cable right? Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted October 15, 2001 Yeah, that would help too...blue end to the motherboard. Share this post Link to post
TYiO 0 Posted October 15, 2001 indeed it sounds like a stupid question BUT IT'S NOT!! I checked twice if my cable was an 80pin one, wrote to western digital, downloaded IDE drivers , etc... But finally I found out -thanks to you- that the guy who assembled my pc inverted the cd rom cable and the IDE cable...Blue end cable was not on the blue plug (that I didn't check) THANK YOU GUYS you saved my nerves! EddiE314 0 Posted October 16, 2001 sometimes the stupidest thing causes the biggest problems. I'm glad it fixed your problem though. Share this post Link to post
