Deviant 0 Posted October 19, 2001 Hello! I'd like to increase Core Voltage on Abit KG7 more than 1.85 for Thunderbird ... But the maximum value in BIOS is 1.85. Is this possible ? Thanks and regards. D. Share this post Link to post
ThC 129 0 Posted October 19, 2001 yes and no. Without applying a voltage regulator to your motherboard its not. If you want to go to the trouble of putting one on and perhaps frying your chip and mobo go ahead. Why do you want to put the voltage that high anyway?? Share this post Link to post
Deviant 0 Posted October 19, 2001 It is just a question ... I've bought KG7 yesterday with TB 1000/266 and I was reading posts about overclocking. There are some successes with 2.10 V @ 1600Mhz ...It wasn't clear for me how to get such high voltage ... D. Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted October 19, 2001 Unless a BIOS revision has it, a voltage mod is the only way. At that point, something like Vapochill or a water cooling setup would be required; even the Swiftech MCA 462 with the mighty Delta wouldn't do it. If you have the skillz, time, money, and balls to do it, be my guest. I do overclock, but aside from the "pencil trick" and changing the fan on my MX, I'm not going to go to great lengths to overclock. Also, having a particular stepping will play a major role in that. Get the right chip, and that 2.10 voltage might not be necessary. Share this post Link to post
