Caligula 0 Posted October 23, 2001 Hi all!! I`ve got a MS sidewinder FFB pro joystick, the old kind with the shift button on it. I like having that button and use it to double the buttons on the stick ,the new FFB2 doesn`t have it.Too bad I can`t use it anymore on XP.The profiler software doesn`t work with it. Does anyone know if M$ will ever update the program, or they just want to force us to buy the new stick even though the old works fine ,except for the damn software that they refuse to make compatible with 2000 and XP. Well can anyone help, either telling me wether I should even expect the update,or any workaround by third-party program...etc. THX in advance Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted October 23, 2001 Have you looked to see if the OS has drivers for the controller. I know MS has made 2k software for the profiler program, since I have the MS SideWinder Precision 2--which has fully functional Profiler software. You might wanna check to make sure that stuff might be in the OS before you start b1tching about MS not making your stuff work. Share this post Link to post
Caligula 0 Posted October 24, 2001 The sidewinder software 4.0 I belive works fine with 2000/XP, but that only works with Precision2 ,FFB 2.In the helpfiles it states that for the older joysticks I need to use version 3.2,wich does not work with 2000/XP.XP has drivers for the stick,it`s only the profiler software that`s giving me problems, and keeping me from getting the most out of it. Belive me I did look around quiet extensively before I posted here. Share this post Link to post
clinto 0 Posted August 11, 2005 Has anyone ever found the 4.0 software? I hear about it a lot, but I am unable to find a copy of it. Sounds like what I need. I am trying to get my sidewinder precision 2.0 on XP. The joystick loads, but not being able to setup profiles for the buttons takes away half the value. Can anyone who bought the hardware more recently send/post a copy of the 4.0 software. I only have 3.2 on my CD Clinto Share this post Link to post
thatsteveguy 0 Posted August 11, 2005 From what I know MS gamepads of all sorts are no longer supported as they got out of making them. I know that to use mine I have to use the auto-detect function in game controllers then it loads the drivers but no I cannot install the ms software as it doesn't support xp. s Share this post Link to post
clinto 0 Posted August 12, 2005 I DID find the software on www.driverguide.com! Thank you to posts on this forum! The tricky part is that the software installation is hardware dependant. In other words all of the 4.0 software say sidewinder, but not all sidewinders are created equal. The gamepad software will not work with the Precision Pro and vis versa. There are MANY flavors on driverguide though so check it out. Again this software successfully installed on XP and now I can set the full buttons and macros! Very nice especially for some of my older games that do not allow much configuration from within the game. Still no idea, why Microsoft does not make these available to support their hardware. Good Luck! Clinto Share this post Link to post
