JB007 0 Posted October 24, 2001 Hello! How is everybody doing! I've recently built an AMD system with the following specifications: [*]Motherboard: DFI AK76-SN Rev. A+ [*]Processor: AMD Athlon 1.33 GHz @ 266 MHz FSB [*]CPU Fan: GlobalWin WBK38 ( Noisy! ) [*]Memory: 256MB DDR PC2100 SDRAM unbuffered [*]Hard Drive: Western Digital WD200 ( 20.0 GB, ATA 100, 7200RPM ) [*]Graphics: Creative 3D Blaster GeForce2 Ultra [*]Sound: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy [*]Modem: USR PCI HARDWARE Modem OEM model 2977 [*]300W Power Supply [*]Windows 2000 Professional [/list:u] The problem is, whenever I try to play a 3D Accelerated game ( e.g. Half Life , Flight Simulator 2000 ) The system hangs and reboots automaticlly. It displays a blue screen before restarting ( it says something about dumping the physical memory ). I've checked the IRQ settings and found that SB Audigy shares IRQ with GeForce2 Ultra. Thanks in advance. Share this post Link to post
kgeissler 0 Posted October 24, 2001 Have you downloaded the patch for the AMD/Geforce combo? See this link: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q270/7/15.ASP Share this post Link to post
Xiven 0 Posted October 24, 2001 Also make sure you have Service Pack 2 installed (contains some important VIA chipset fixes). The sharing of IRQs is very rarely a problem on a Win2k ACPI machine compared to a non-ACPI machine (where preventing IRQ sharing can be crucial). Share this post Link to post
JB007 0 Posted October 24, 2001 Thanks Guys! The problem was fixed using the instructions listed on Microsoft's website about the AMD/GeForce Combo. Share this post Link to post
JB007 0 Posted October 24, 2001 Well I ran the Hazard course in Half Life to test it, it went without problems however, the main game still crashes at some point at the beginning. Flight Simulator runs fine. Share this post Link to post

JB007 0 Posted October 25, 2001 Brian, this registry file performs the modification listed on the previous Microsoft's page. Now, even some applications like CDRWIN lockup the computer. Share this post Link to post
Palos 0 Posted October 25, 2001 Did you buy the PC somewhere in Hawalli by any chance? Share this post Link to post
