CoMp_FrEaK 0 Posted October 27, 2001 hey. this is my first post in this forum so go easy on me. i got this constant problem in xp when i cant see the other computer, which is my bro's. his computer is running 98SE and mine is running xp professional. My network still works in 98SE(i have a dual boot.) but it won't work in xp. Everytime i would go to view workgroup, and then click on his computer it would say this: Quote: \dell(bros comp name) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network source. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have network permissions. The network path was not found For xp the networking protocols im using is:client for ms networks, file and printer sharing, qos, netbeui, and tcp/ip. On my bros i got the same ones except for ipx and ndiswan added on it. I really need some help here, i dont really have enough time cuz of high school and such so the only time i could work on this is on the weekend. thanks to those that respond. ThC 129 0 Posted October 28, 2001 install IPX on your computer too. As long as both computers have IPX on them networking shouldnt be a problem. Share this post Link to post

TaoArcher 0 Posted October 28, 2001 IPX is generally a cop-out for getting your network to work right. hehehe. I would turn off your "Computer Browser" service on the WinXP box to start with. Then reboot and see if the problem goes away. If you're part of a domain, theres a bunch of other things to check too. Share this post Link to post
