norton ghost+activation

I have question: If I install winxp home or pro and activate it over the net and apply all updates and then ghost it with norton ghost 2002. Can I use that file or must I activate winxp after ghosting back the file. I want to know because I´m going to move soon and will lose my internet access for a while.

If you install everything then ghost, and then restore that ghost at a later time, XP will still be activated.

Providing your hardware doesn't change between when you create the Ghost image and when you restore it. If you don't have net access, you can always call MS on the phone and they will give you an activation code to type in.

Hey i was just thinking about this some more. Changing hardware shouldnt matter as long as your not changing out most the the pc (mobo/HDD etc), so what if you have a few similar pcs. Surely you cant just load the ghost image and skip activation for many pcs?

Windows uses the serial numbers of your hardware to identify it. Even if you use the same type of hardware, your serial numbers will be different.
