Win 2000 Shutdown

When I shut down Win 2000 RC2 I get the message "it is now safe to turn off your computer" But my case (Aopen HX-08) has an electric switch, not a mechanical switch, so it has no effect. I need to hit the reset button and reboot to the bootmenu screen. Then the switch works. Win 98 and RC1 automatically shut down the computer. Is there some way I can reenable this with RC2? My MB is an ABIT BX-6 Rev. 2.

Try holding down the power button for 5 seconds. If not, I belive there's an option in the bios for "instant" off on your motherboard.

Turn on APM with in Windows2000

rigth on the desktop go to Display Properties

then Screen Saver & click on the Settings button

Just Hold the dam button for over 4 seconds and I t should turn off ya system. Though my friends system just does a reset

 

Does any1 know if they gonna make Win2k turn off computers with ATX power supplyes.. like Win98 does?

You Have to Enable ACPI in Your Bios.

My System Turns off, Hibernate, etc.

Thanks, enabling APM worked. Now Win 2000 turns it off automatically.

do you have a bp6 because i have done htat but its still a no go.

The BP6 is a no-go because ACPI does not work at all with dual processors. too bad...
