jonny_boy 0 Posted October 31, 2001 I recall reading something about the possibility of installing an application as a service in Windows XP? Anyone know how this is done? Specifically, I use my own smtp server for mail sending and it currently loads at startup and runs all the time sending mail as I write it. I was thinking if I could load this as a service instead of a program it might be one less resource in use. Any tips appreciated. Jon Share this post Link to post
KingNothing.com 0 Posted November 1, 2001 Back in Win2k, I used FireDaemon, which doesn't currently work on XP, but there's supposed to be an update really soon. http://www.firedaemon.com/ Share this post Link to post
jonny_boy 0 Posted November 1, 2001 I actually came across that post right after I posted mine. I was looking for those tools on the XP cd but I will now need to see if I can find them on a W2K cd somewhere... Thanks, Jon Share this post Link to post
jonny_boy 0 Posted November 1, 2001 Ok, I have looked through a W2K CD but can't find either of those. Any ideas where it would be? Or do you have a copy of one of them that you could send me? Jon Share this post Link to post
