Jackson_san 0 Posted November 3, 2001 Hi,people. I have a problem with my ff wheel when running under Win2k. I can use it but force feedback never works. I wonder if new M$ XP has solved the issue. I can't afford new USB prot version ff wheel. Any information I'll appreciate. Thanx. Share this post Link to post
JBrave715 0 Posted November 3, 2001 My gameport FF Joystick has Force feedback in both Windows 2000 and XP. I always thought the same would be true with the wheel. Have you tried downloading the latest game controller software? http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/sidewinder/downloads/default.asp Share this post Link to post
Jackson_san 0 Posted November 3, 2001 Thank you JBrave715 Whenever I tried to install SW Game Controller Software(3.02), I got Error and couldn't fininsh the setup. I've thought this is always the case with Win2k and FF wheel. Could you tell me how you did it? Or did I miss anything? Share this post Link to post
JBrave715 0 Posted November 3, 2001 What error message did it give you? The game controller software installed fine when I installed it. Though the FF stick works natively in Windows 2000 and XP. I installed it to try to get a sidewinder game controller to work. Share this post Link to post

JBrave715 0 Posted November 4, 2001 I don't know man. I don't deal with those problems, whenever I get weird error messages like that and don't know how to fix them I format and reinstall windows. Share this post Link to post
Jackson_san 0 Posted November 4, 2001 Hello, JBrave715. I ordered XP. It'll be due this coming 16th here in Japan. Until then I can't see if XP had fixed this problem. I hope so, because it costs me more than $130, which is a lot money especialy when you're jobless.:-) Thank you for your adviece anyway. Share this post Link to post
JBrave715 0 Posted November 5, 2001 Well I hope it works out for ya. Maybe in the meantime you should give Microsoft a call and see if they have any answers to your problems. Goodluck. Share this post Link to post
zhenboy 0 Posted November 24, 2003 i got the exactly SAME problem....could someone help? i got a txt file from a website says: Sidewinder 3d pro in win2k --------------------------------- Step 1) Download the win98 driver 2) Run the win98 driver until it informs you the driver isnt compatible with the current version of windows 3) Alt-Tab out of the driver installation and find where it unzipped the temp files to (a good idea is to open the temp folder first and see the new folder which appears) 4) Copy the new temp files to a new folder 5) Complete the anstallation procedure (ie. it will exit because of wrong version) 6) Install the joystick in the game controllers panel by clicking "Add Other" and click "Have Disk". Point it to the directory where you copied the installation files to. I think I used the one called "sidewinder autodetect" or something along those lines. 7) Finished. If you find its not detecting it, simply refresh it a shitload of times (sometimes i click refresh and then properties while its trying to detect the joystick, and then hold down 'r' until it stops beeping at me), but it will work. i tried....couldnt find the unzipped files... where r they?
