diamond supramax usb combatibility with winxp

Hi evyrobody.I have just finished winxp instalation and everything seems to work fine.The only problem i have,thats why i am posting here,is the compatibility with my modem.The modem is a diamond supramax usb 56k and i was very happy owning one with my millenium o/s.Now things change.I send mail to diamond(sonic-blue) and they guided me to install some beta drivers for my modem. The ftp adress is: ftp://ftp.diamondmm.com/pub/communications/supra/Supramax/sup2920/

However theese drivers never worked properly....When the modem calls it seems that there is no dial tone,or when there is a dial tone during the logon process the line gets busy ....Anyways i forced to use my old modem (crypto best 56k) which works fine under the older drivers for win 2000! I am not pleased with the whole situation,if anybody can direct me with the settings of the modem or with some new more stable drivers i would be gratefull.Thanks a lot people
