Recommended Posts

I do everything the readme says, and it gives me a "unkown device error" and goes back to command prompt DOH!......

The only thing I think it could be is the bootdisk I have is not running in "pure dos" mode. If anybody out there who has got it to work could mail me their bootdisk zipped up would be great, my email is jkhan@vt.edu and Im on a t1 so dont worry bout the download, and if u mail it reply to this message so I dont get 20 copies of it smile thx fellas.

This is realy strange. Just last night I DL the lats beta bios from ABIT/BP6 site, along with award bios update program and flash went with NO problem at all. I just started to win98 and went to "shutdown to dos" and

run: "awardflsh update.bin followed by adviset parametrs (get yem of ABIT site)" and now I have my ATA66 bios at 1.10

I can update my mobo's bios easlity ising awdflash every time. But the controller is supposed to have a different program to update its bios. Here is a cut and copy of the readme that came with the update for my controller.

-------------------- cut & paste --------------------

When you got a new version of Hot Rod 66's BIOS from ABIT's web

site. You can utilize load.exe to update BIOS of the Hot Rod 66

controll card. Please refer to following steps to reflash new BIOS.

1. Reboot and change the operation system to the pure DOS mode.

2. Make sure that the new BIOS file has been named BIOS.

3. Make sure that the new BIOS file is stored in the same directory

as load.exe.

4. Execute load.exe with parameter BIOS as below:

load BIOS

5. Done!

This is just a guess but maybe that is if u ONLY want to update the ATA66 bios and not the whole board. I just guess that the BIOS I got of ABIT site includes both updates, mb. and ata66. Try it, see if that helps.
