Keyboard volume control

I have an HP keyboard with a volume control turner on the top, which works under ME,2000,XP but not under 98SE. I have tried up[censored] the keyboard drivers from the Windows ME drivers and it updates but the control still does not work.Is there anyway to get this to work at all as i am wanting to put 98SE back on for games?
