pcdabbler 0 Posted November 23, 2001 Hi, has anyone seen this ? I run an Adaptec 2940UW with a Plextor 4220 and Px40 reader. On a clean install of WinXP pro both devices produce at least five or more of these errors in the event log on initial access by the Autoplay function of XP, ie: Event Type: Warning Event Source: Cdrom Event Category: None Event ID: 51 Date: 19/11/2001 Time: 11:16:10 User: N/A Computer: PIPER Description: An error was detected on device \Device\CdRom3 during a paging operation. Also, the disks produced have errors reported in them as checked by Plextools 1.10c. And yes, the SCSI chain is correctly terminated.. The set up works FINE in windows Me. Anybody any ideas ? apart from the bundled Roxio software in XP just not liking SCSI burners ? Share this post Link to post
NotSoSmart 0 Posted November 26, 2001 I have an Adaptec 2930c with a Imation 8x20 which worked just fine till I loaded Nero. I burned 1 disk fine now XP doesn't see the Writer as a writer just a CDrom. I uninstalled the software restored from earlier date nothing has worked so far. You event log error is excatly what mine is. Nero must have added something in the system files but I don't know what it is. I uninstalled the Writer and the SCSI card no dice. Man this sucks. Nope my CD Writer is nothing but a CD Rom now Event log only error and it has been reported. I bet I will have to reformat and reinstall to get writing back. Share this post Link to post
NotSoSmart 0 Posted November 26, 2001 Thanks for the help but I have done that several times now. I build computers for myself and friends and am a Network Admin. Nero added something in the driver directory and I'm going to find it or end up starting over which really isn't that big a deal. Just was kind of hoping that someone might have already found out what the problem was thanks again. Share this post Link to post
yakkob 0 Posted November 26, 2001 Have you downloaded the latest winaspi32.dll from Ahead's site, and put it in your NERO folder? Share this post Link to post
NotSoSmart 0 Posted November 26, 2001 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.57 (1008), size=48128 bytes, created 12/22/1997 7:23:24 PM ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.28, size=172099 bytes, created 11/24/2001 6:52:16 PM This came from the NeroHistory.log file. Also I uninstalled Nero. I tryed the newest wnaspi32 from adaptec just for shits and giggles no luck. Share this post Link to post
yakkob 0 Posted November 26, 2001 You need the winaspi32.dll from NERO's site, not Adaptec's. I would reinstall Nero, and place the said dll in the NERO folder. P.S. Thanks Alec Share this post Link to post
