three 0 Posted November 26, 2001 weird, everytime i submit a post, i get a 'page cannot be displayed' msg. am i the only one getting this? Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted November 26, 2001 I mostly get timeouts and problems loading the page (probably the same thing you are getting). Have you tried running a trace to this server to see what your performance is like? Share this post Link to post
three 0 Posted November 26, 2001 don't really think it's network problems, cause the only time that happens is when i submit the reply, the other pages are loading up fine. *hmm..it worked fine this time* lol 8) Share this post Link to post

clutch 1 Posted November 26, 2001 Well, I don't think it's maintenance being performed, as this happens a great deal to me. But then again, if this server is running something else that gets more activity then that may be the case. There have been times when I had slow performance from this site, but it seemed to be coming from some network issues between it and myself. However, I am getting 90ms ping to it right now between me in Wisconsin, USA and the server being hosted in Canada over the course of 16 hops. I am not getting any loss either. Philipp 6 Posted November 26, 2001 The Server is doing fine. The problem is Tera-Byte's firewall/router: Quote: fw-4ws-fxp0.edm.tera-byte.com 216.234.160.54 I hope Tera-Byte fix or replace this machine shortly Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted November 26, 2001 For APK, Here's a really good free (yep, free) ASP-based messageboard application: http://forum.snitz.com/ Also, you can get a list of many that are available at ASPIN.com http://www.aspin.com/home/webapps/bbs There ya go. I myself just got the app from Snitz, and I plan on messing with it sometime this week if I have the time. I will be using MS SQL 2000 for the backend, and running it on IIS 5. clutch 1 Posted November 26, 2001 Windows based tools? I don't know if I follow what you mean. I do plan on using Visual Interdev and Adobe GoLive5 for the webpages, but the backend will be managed through SQL Enterprise Manager and Visual Studio. The application will be hosted on one of my Win2K servers at home as well. Share this post Link to post

I was just getting ready to sign up with Tera-Byte, too. Have you tried emailing them about this problem? Share this post Link to post
Four and Twenty 0 Posted November 27, 2001 I am going to be starting a messageboard soon and the free asp solution looks real good. I am not starting a site like ntcompatble, my site will be for ftp server trade. The requirements for membership are that you have a well organised FTP server with 10 gigs or more of content (or something really special). The point of the site is to provide a meetingplace for L33T users that have a big ftp (like mine is around 120 gigs) so that they can trade logins. Anyone who has a decent FTP will have direct access to other FTP's around the world. Anyway we will need a messageboard to accomplish this. Share this post Link to post
