rockster77 0 Posted December 3, 2001 hey...i'm new here. i was reading a bunch of threads and a lot of you seem to know what you're talking about. i don't know much about computers...i thought that maybe some of you could help. here is my problem. i just got "Return to Castle Wolfenstein." i installed it but when i try to run the .exe i get the error message saying: Wolf 1.0.0 win-x86 Nov 13 2001 ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: C:\PROGRA~1\RETURN~1\main\sp_pak2.pk3 (232 files) C:\PROGRA~1\RETURN~1\main\sp_pak1.pk3 (1342 files) C:\PROGRA~1\RETURN~1\main\pak0.pk3 (4775 files) C:\PROGRA~1\RETURN~1/main ---------------------- 6349 files in pk3 files execing default.cfg couldn't exec language.cfg couldn't exec wolfconfig.cfg execing autoexec.cfg Hunk_Clear: reset the hunk ok ...detecting CPU, found AMD w/ 3DNow! Bursar 0 Posted December 3, 2001 It sounds like it is your video card. What chipset is on it? I'm guessing it's some kind of 3dFX chipset from the last few lines you've posted. I think you're probably going to have to change it for something a bit more capable. Share this post Link to post
BloodRedDragon 0 Posted December 3, 2001 That GLsetup.exe you were trying to use would have been useless, anyway. It's a software solution for video cards without OpenGL drivers, and is useless for games because it uses the cpu for the graphics acceleration. You need OpenGL drivers for the video card, which allows the gpu to do the graphics acceleration. Share this post Link to post

BloodRedDragon 0 Posted December 3, 2001 Check this site to see if this is the card you have. http://www.hightech.com.hk/html/988-1.htm It doesn't appear to be a 3dfx based card. The website has a drivers link. Supposedly, the card should work for OpenGL. If new drivers don't help, maybe the hardware is just not up to the task. In that case, you would need to get a new video card, for which I refer you back to AlecStaar's suggestion. Karl Share this post Link to post
