bjornar 0 Posted December 4, 2001 I wonder when the adminpack.msi for xp is availible, so that it supports the administration tools that works with 2000 server. Or is there other ways to go for example use active directory on win xp? Does anyone know? Share this post Link to post
BladeRunner 0 Posted December 4, 2001 Been out since 21st November: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=34032&area=search&ordinal=20 Share this post Link to post
BladeRunner 0 Posted December 4, 2001 I can also confirm it works I look after our Active Directory domain here at work from my WinXP Professional station. (Well I do now, couldn't upgrade until that adminpak had been released). Share this post Link to post

clutch 1 Posted December 4, 2001 I was administering my both ADs using Terminal Server before, but now the new release is making administration much easier. Share this post Link to post
BladeRunner 0 Posted December 4, 2001 Yer, I was using Terminal Server. It's just so much quicker to launch the admin tools I find. I'm the only one using XP at work, don't think we'll be upgrading anyone else, although the remote desktop features are nice. Share this post Link to post
brainsoft 0 Posted December 8, 2001 Interesting. The file comes from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Utility/3590/WXP/EN-US/adminpak.exe .../download/whistler/utility/... I'm surprised they're still using Whistler in the path! What was Whistler's codename at the very very beginning? Chicago? Share this post Link to post
BladeRunner 0 Posted December 8, 2001 Whistler as far as I know is still the beta name for the WinXP server products. As for Chicago, well I guess you could say that was the name in the very beginning, if I remember correctly that was the beta name for Win95. Share this post Link to post
