Motherboard Recommendation

Hi all, I am thinking of buying a new motherboard, but am not to sure what one to get, can you recommend one.

It needs 4 DIMM Slots

1 AGP

5-6PCI slots.

and a pentium 4 capable

I would go for the ABIT TH7II.

Good quality, stable, jumperless.

IT ' s got the socket 478 so you can put next years' s P4s (Northwood) and if you are into overclocking, this is the choice.

Is the only reason you are going for a P4 with SDRAM rather than a P4 with RDRAM due to the price of memory?

I can't recommend to you enough going for RIMM's over DIMM's with a P4.

Benchmarks show that the P4 can really get throttled when using SDRAM rather than RDRAM.

As for choice on motherboards, it has to be ASUS.

The ASUS RDRAM based board has already been found to be rock stable with 133Mhz FSB, meaning it is fully ready for the faster Northwood CPU's next year.

Just make sure you get a Socket 478 Based board for future upgrades!

No main Reason is i just spend a fortune for 1GB of SDRAM and dont want to waste it.

Fair enough, when you've already got 1GB of SDRAM you don't want to really be spending £80 per 256MB of RDRAM.
