Hykster 0 Posted December 13, 2001 I currently use and operate on Windows XP but I want to reformat my 40 GB HD to clean out the drive and reinstall Windows XP and such. I have done this with previous OS's. My problem is that I can't get the format c: command to work in MS-DOS mode, nor get a restore floppy disk that helps me do that in DOS mode before start up. Any ideas on how I can re-format my HD right now? (My HD is still FAT32.) Any replies would be great, thanks in advance! Hykster Share this post Link to post

Ant -|- One 0 Posted December 13, 2001 Maybe you already thought about this simple one: just boot on your XP cd and, when prompted, delete the partition and ask XP to create a brand new partition with fast format (NTFS of course). Isn't it simple ? Hope it helps you ! Share this post Link to post

Minotaur 0 Posted December 18, 2001 since you are still fat32, does the win98bootdisk scenario work? just boot with the disk then format then insert the winXP cd and boot from that to install from fresh? i havn't done that yet, but will it work? anyone? Share this post Link to post
