Bashful 0 Posted December 15, 2001 Hi Group, I've installed SETI@Home here at work, but as I'm not the only one to use this computer, I would like to stop SETI@Home from starting up along with the rest of the computer - how do I do that ?? Isn't there a MsConfig-feature in W2K as there is in Win98 ??? ... or, isn't it a problem at all, because SETI@Home only starts up when I'M the one to log on, and therefore wont startup when the other users log onto this computer??? Thanks in advance. Kasper, Denmark. Share this post Link to post
AndyFair 0 Posted December 15, 2001 I think Seti@Home starts by putting a shortcut link in the "Startup" area in the Start menu. To make sure that it only starts for you, make sure that the link is in the startup folder for your profile only, and not in the "all users" area. Rgds AndyF Share this post Link to post
BladeRunner 0 Posted December 15, 2001 Hiya, Seti@Home starts automatically by placing an entry in your registry file. In answer to your question, no, Win2k does not have an MSconfig program as this was deemed not necessary for the professional OS's. To stop it loading at start up, enter your registry file: Start>Run>Regedit Now browse to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Run In the right pane of the 'Run' subkey you will see an entry for Seti@Home, simply delete this registry value.
