AndyFair 0 Posted December 28, 2001 OK - I've decided it's time to update my PC speakers from the 2 poxy little things that sit beside my monitor. So what do you guys use? Any recommendations. Cost not so much of an issue - I'd rather pay decent money for something that sounds good and lasts a few years rather than go the cheap and cr@ppy route. Also, what about Dobly* 5.1 or quad 4.1 setups? Do they work? How widespread is 4.1 or 5.1 sound in games? Any help and suggestions much appreciated. TIA AndyF * Yes, I know it's a typo. What can I say? Dwarfs around Stonehenge?!! Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted December 28, 2001 I say buy Klipsch. If that's too much the Creative Inspire 5300 5.1 would be a nice bet @ $100USD Share this post Link to post
AndyFair 0 Posted January 2, 2002 Hmmm...have lusted over the Klipsch speakers before, only problem is that they don't have a UK distributor! I'll take a look at the Creative speakers. Thanks Andy Share this post Link to post
ShawnK 0 Posted January 11, 2002 I don't have them, but heard nothing but good things about them. Logitech Z560. Some people I know have referred to them as the Klipsch killers. They said, they sound just as good as the klipsch. You can find them around the net for about $160-$180 shipped. There's usually deals on them somewhere on the net. Here's some reviews of them. http://www.logitech.com/cf/newsarticle.cfm/4190 Here's the specs. http://www.logitech.com/cf/products/productfeatures.cfm/3263 Share this post Link to post
Palos 0 Posted January 24, 2002 I have the Creative Soundworks Digital...1 subwoofer and 2 cube satellites. I find it very good, works ok with SPDIF-Out from my "old" SB Live! and it's "loud" enough as well. I don't need anything fancier, really Share this post Link to post
pmistry 0 Posted January 26, 2002 I have the Altec Lansing ACS54 set. Cheaper than most expensive solutions like Klipsch but great value and comes from a good manufacturer. Its a 4 speaker set with great bass and clean sound, and comes with sub woofer. You can read a review and others speakers at http://www.3dsoundsurge.com Here's a review link: http://www.3dsoundsurge.com/reviews/ACS54/ACS54.html Share this post Link to post
kgeissler 0 Posted January 26, 2002 I just got the Labtec Pulse 424's. It is only a 2.1 setup and it sounds great. They only cost about $45. Share this post Link to post
Atreyu 0 Posted January 26, 2002 Try out the Logitech Z-540's $80 bucks 4.1 and killer sound no matter how loud you set them. Logitech bought Labtec and therefore all of their patents, so the z-540's employ the same technology as the Labtec pulse 424's (i have a set and they kick *** as well). Go for the Z-540's, in my opinion they are the best speakers for the price on the market. Share this post Link to post
