xp automatically make pagefile on 2nd HD

Recommended Posts

I don't know if windows is supposed to do that, but i noticed it put the pagefile on my d drive by default. i know everyone say it's better to make a pagefile on another drive than the one who has windows on it. Would ms have implemented that in winxp or did something wrong happen during the setup on my computer? smile It's not a problem at all, my pagefile is fine where it is, but i'm just curious.

Mine always puts it on the System drive, strange your's did otherwise. I wouldn't think anything of it. Not sure why it did that though.

If there is not enough room on the system drive for Windows XP to create the default maximum pagefile size it will place it on a secondary drive or partition. This happens under Windows 2000 as well. I haven't seen it under other versions, but it may occur there as well. How much room do you have free on your system drive?
