scanport scanner won't work in XP

Recommended Posts

Have a scanport sq4800 parallel port flatbed scanner, have tried the latest drivers from scanport(out of business)and they won't work with XP,every time I install the scanner and drivers xp finds 8 scsi scanners and an unsupported scsi/raid host controller. Does anyone know where I might find the proper drivers?? I think when I installed xp the native drivers worked fine but then I tried the scanport drvrs and it hasn't worked since.I have tried a terminator with no luck. If no scanport drvrs are available how can I get it to run on the native drivers?? Printer is not daisy chained, it is USB. Thanks for any helpconfused

Choose Folder Options, View, Show Hidden Files and Folders, Apply to all Folders.

Go to C:\Windows\Inf and read Oem00.inf to Oemxx.inf files using notepad. These files replace those from Windows 9X that were included in C:\Windows\Inf\Other Folder. Remove the files related to Scanner drivers. Uninstall Scanner in Device Manager. After reboot the Scanner should be identified as a new device. Let Windows find its own drivers.

OLEerror, driver rollback is not an option.

WOLF87, I did as you said, there was only one OEM.inf file that referenced the scanner and I removed it and rebooted. Windows did not detect anything, add hardware wizard does not find it either. I really want to keep this old scanner it scans great(win98)and scans a legal pad sized doc.

I believe there is a built in Adaptec host adaptor in the scanner, this is what I got from Scanports site:scanner has a TMA adaptor, Adaptec AHA-1502/AE EZ-SCSI. I have tried all the available Adaptec host adaptors offered with XP but none will install. I think if I can get the scsi host adaptor working then windows would find the scanner. Currently all Scanport drivers and software are removed, there are no scanners or scsi host adaptors listed in dev mgr. Boot with scanner on and nothing happens. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Try URL

http://www.scanport.com/drivers_scanner_index.html

ScanModule 2.48. It worked fine for me on my

SQ4800 after first deleting my previous

ScanModule 2.38, then installing this newer version."

Wolf87, I tried the Microtek drivers they seemed to want to work but I kept getting bluescreened.Decided to try the latest(1998)Scanport drvrs for the umpteenth time and scanner is working but: on every boot it finds eight(8)scsi scanner devices and 1 scanport simplescsi miniport driver and 1 scsi/raid host controller. I can disable the scanport miniport drvr and leave the 8 scanners in dvc mgr and it will scan just fine. The 8 scanners say no device drvrs are loaded, the miniport and scsi/raid host controller appear to be using the same driver C:windows\system32\drivers\simplescsi.sys,

Any idea how to get it to quit finding 8 scanners on every boot?? Thanks

Startup.cpl or RegCleaner would help identify and remove unwanted commands operating at boot time. Use Notetab on OEMxx.inf files in C:\Windows\Inf and remove those related to Scanner and SCSI drivers. Uninstall all Scanner and SCSI entries in Device Manager. Reboot and reinstall the latest 1998 Scanport drivers.
