cooluhl 0 Posted January 3, 2002 I am running W2K and recently developed a problem. When I boot my machine up, all of the drives show up in windows explorer. When I put a disk into either drive (dvdrom or cdr drive), the disk spins, but nothing else happens. When I double-click the drive in explorer, I get a message that says, "disk in drive is not formatted. Would you like to format now?". What is that and why is it happening. How can I fix it. This error comes up even when no disk is in the drive. What gives? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Eric Share this post Link to post
cooluhl 0 Posted January 6, 2002 Well, here is the answer that I found out on my own. Turns out the dvd drive was in fact, bad. I ask myself why both drives would give the error message, and the only thing I can come up with is they share the same data cable, therefore, if one goes bad, the other one "thinks" it's bad. I bought a new dvd drive today, and everything works fine. Who woulda guessed?? Share this post Link to post
