DosFreak 2 Posted January 9, 2002 Depends on the motherboard bios and the hardware involved. Generally if the hardware is unknown then Non-ACPI is best. That's the experience that I have had anyway. Less problems encountered. PNP OS has no effect on windows NT/2000/XP. Share this post Link to post
Palos 0 Posted January 9, 2002 Man, never tried to set it to StandardPC (at bootup I assume, I forgot what's the F key to get there). Do you have probs in ACPI? Share this post Link to post
BladeRunner 0 Posted January 9, 2002 If you search the Microsoft Knowledge Base on "PnP OS" in the BIOS under Windows 2000 you'll find a result telling you basically: "MS Recommends PnP OS is set to 'No' for Windows 2000 installations" I can only assume that as Win2k & WinXP share so much of the code/base that the same would be true under both OS's.
