McBane 0 Posted January 13, 2002 It used to be so simple (win2k/win98) to disable java... Why do I need to disable java? It makes for a nifty Popup killer without the use of 3rd party programs...I went ahead and disabled all the scripting crap under security in Internet Options, yet the annoying ads (Like the crucial one on this page) still appear. Now if it were disables, Only a pretty little red x whould show up.... Anyone know how to do it? Thanks. Share this post Link to post
ejsmith 0 Posted January 13, 2002 What crucial ad? And I see your pretty red 'x', and totally agree with you. Why waste cpu cycles/memory on third party fixes when everything is there already? The first thing I do when I load windows is turn off active scripting and java. Download files and fonts, and the 'pass through' domain and frames are the only things on. Everything else is chucked. Then I manually add a few 'trusted' sites at medium, and msft at medium-low. I also load Netscape 4.79. So if I hit a site that absolutely needs java, I'm not going to spend the time to add it to the trusted zone. I just cut-n-paste the url to netscape. The only question I have is what browser are you using? IE 5.5asp is the best configuration I think, but 6.0 will disable everything too. I like to be able to setup cookie configs for each zone, rather than having to add a site to TWO different lists. GD msft... Share this post Link to post
